On the weekend just past was staged the first leg of the national circuit SuperEnduro 2016. After a year off back the main Italian circuit enduro and as the initial round was chosen a new location for a race of this type, Massa Marittima.

The special stages were 6 and were made public the weekend prior to the race; we took to Tuscany just to be in place already on Saturday in order to start making an inspection of what we would wait for this long-awaited first step. The route would be of 40 km and 1500 m of altitude; the special stages were precisely 6, with the first five paths “normal” while the last would be a small downtown in the alleys of the village, about a minute special between stairs and tight curves from the top of the castle to finish in the crowd in the cathedral square.

Since the first rides on the paths of the Maremma there was printed a beautiful smile on your face because all the stages were really beautiful and perfectly-kept by the children of The Trail Brothers and Massa Vecchia. Each one was different from the others, but all had a common denominator: curves on curves!

PS1 and PS2 were slightly different from the other three because faster and streamers and especially in the first special stage there were more flowing sections where pedaling and pushing. The two, however, was characterized at about half tries from a canyon that made her dizzy from the sequence of curves. 3,4 and 5, however, were more similar to each other, all very narrow and with many curves through the trees, not many traits pedaled but all you had to always revive the action to maintain high speed and not lose the rhythm. Of the three the SS5 was in our opinion the most complete of the race because he had some technical sections with rocks, some faster sections and some stretches where push on the pedals, all seasoned by the fact that it was the longest of the day with over six minutes special test.

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather that was expected we are staying in Tuscany (so we avoided us a good snowfall in the valley) and we spent a week riding a little ‘road and a bit’ with the bike enduro. The temperature as we approached the race increased, and so the ps, the weekend before were in some places a bit ‘slippery, you have gone drying thus making them treacherous due to the fact that in some sections of the terrain was even too dry. This race day did not occur because with high humidity, the ground was perfect and on Sunday there was a great grip in all special stages.

On Sunday at 7:45 was kicked off the race, but this year the start is given in reverse order, and so to the 10:20 with the number 4 is Alex Party while a few minutes later with num.2 was looking forward to Denny .

At the end of the day and after a very tight race results see the victory of Marco Milivinti; the second place was Denny just 6 seconds behind the winner and managed to win two stages, the PS3 and PS5, and the third step of the podium Vittorio Gambirasio. Just behind in fourth place finishes Alex that until the last has played just the 3rd place losing it for a single second to last ps but managing to hold off for just 4/10 the Swiss Gustav Wildhaber, the late 5th.

IMPRESSIONS OF ALEX RACE

“I must say I’m really surprised with the result because I did not expect to go so well from the very first race of the season. The shoulder surgery at the end of last year has slightly compromised me prepare him only because I started training in early January and therefore are not able to do everything that was planned but a few weeks time you ride, I felt better and better, and so I was hoping to do a good race. after the tests then I was very motivated because ps I liked them a lot and I was at ease on those paths, and so I pushed hard in all special! Too bad for the first two in which I lost a bit ‘of time (I will study something to be immediately competitive in the coming races but more than that I could not do Sunday ) but I’m really pleased with the last of the day, especially the PS3 and PS5 victory. since the condition is but I know I still have a lot of work to be 100% I can not wait to be the next races to see if I can do even better, the goal this year was to get super competitive in the Italian Championship and a month since then I know I can speak my mind even there, then pointing to coming SuperEnduro! ”

Now we are still waiting for two weeks of training and then race in Pogno to do even a little ‘rhythm in view of the very important round of the Italian Championship on April 17 in Sestri Levante. The season has just started but all the Italian Enduro circus is already very hot and we look forward to thrown back into the fray.
